A beautiful day to take photos. The two similar photos of fishing boats are there for different reasons. One is because I love the vaguely erotic yellow bollards in Campbeltown harbour, and the other is for the lovely rust on the Amy Harris and reflections in the water.
My favourite time of year, when the equinoctial winds flush out the stagnant air of summer and the world feels like it’s turning again. A couple of photos to get started again after falling somewhat by the wayside. At least I have a cunning plan for the future of the blog. Let’s hope its better than Baldrick’s…
Fresh today. I like this for the concatenation of sharp roof angles, combined with the colours, against the sky.
I don’t usually mess with HDR effects because I don’t know enough to use them properly, and badly used they’re just gimmicky. But the colours, shapes, and textures here seemed to call for it.
Such is my ignorance of the natural world that I don’t know what these things are. Jellyfish? They’re extremely photogenic.
These photos are of the interior of a roofless industrial building in Campbeltown. I like the sculptural echoes of the steel support frames.
In the spirit of the first ever Monty Python (see the whole wonderful episode below) I have been pondering shallowly on where I can take Beautiful Railway Bridge.
After such long absence it’s hard to get traction again, particularly since I’ve always relied on arbitrariness, serendipity, and the kindness of strangers. So the idea is to make Beautiful Railway Bridge a bit more structured, with regular features as well as improvisation. Not sure where I’m going yet, but photography has to be one of the main girders. I’m resurrecting the Daily Photo Challenge as a way of getting started, even though it can be a rod for my own back. Finding new subjects, or new ways of looking at old ones, in a one horse town is definitely a challenge.
