The Romance of Real Books

There’s a lovely article in the Guardian about the things we use as bookmarks – tickets, shopping lists, telegrams, bills, photos, postcards, letters etc. Foyles Bookshop is holding an exhibition of the items found by freelance writer, Wayne Gooderham. Unfortunately, it’s in London and only runs through December 13, or I would be there like a shot.

All human life is between the pages of a book, not just the text but the mementos of its readers, and the sensory evidence of its history as a physical object. No sterile machine can ever replace that.

Here’s what the techheads are missing.
