What Lies Beneath

There was a lustrous, golden-brown bloom, interspersed with patches of blue, in Campbeltown loch on Friday. (I’m trying not speculate about the source of the colouration). This is a multiplication of one of the photos, which you can see in the Daily Photo up next. The effect suggests a mandala, with the traditional cultural icons replaced by a visual field in which the mind creates its own images. In that sense it’s like a Rorschach Test. I like this one particularly because the water imparts a fluidity to the visions it evokes.

  1. looks amazingly extra-terrestrial somehow, or maybe like something you’d see in a deep sea documentary. hard to believe how many things right before us are like that when you look at them in isolation and up close.
